David Mousavi becomes CBA In-House Lawyers' president effective September 1, 2026. He succeeds Jennifer Freund, KC, CIC.C, and will hold the role for a year.
Mousavi holds a Juris Doctor and an MBA and has spent over a decade advising public and private businesses, non-profit organizations, and political leaders. He has chaired non-profit boards in the childcare and seniors care sectors and, during the pandemic, helped to launch a province-wide pro bono legal service for frontline healthcare workers. In recognition of his community service and human rights advocacy, CivicAction named him a Diverse City Fellow, a role in which he led initiatives to bring greater diversity and inclusion to government programs and services across the Greater Toronto Area. In 2024, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship.
Mousavi completed a dual JD/MBA program at York University and began his career in private practice before moving in-house at the Toronto Real Estate Board. He joined NRT Technology Corp., a global fintech company, in 2021, where he is Senior Vice President, Legal, Compliance, and General Counsel, overseeing data security and privacy for the organization.
He will lead an executive committee consisting of past president Freund and the following:
