Formerly the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA), CBA In-House Lawyers is the only legal association devoted entirely to in-house lawyers in Canada. In partnership with the Canadian Bar Association, we serve over 5,000 in-house lawyers across every province, territory, sector and industry. We offer mentorship programs, continuing education designed specifically for in-house practice, and specialized programs such as the Business Leadership Program through the Rotman School of Management. We also provide the connections and advocacy to help in-house lawyers thrive — professionally and personally.

Our members are lawyers working for public and private companies, non-profits, associations, government and regulatory boards, Crown corporations, municipalities, hospitals, post-secondary institutions, school boards and more. We also have associate members from law firms and related organizations, whose support and expertise enrich our educational programs and events.

No other organization supports and champions Canadian in-house lawyers more from coast to coast to coast.

Our vision

We are the essential ally and advocate of the in-house legal profession and guardian of the rule of law in Canada. Our members are passionate about their association and the good it brings to their lives and to the world. Staff and volunteers are inspired to exceed members’ expectations every day.

Our mission

We are Canada’s home for in-house counsel. Our mission is to:

  • Inform, connect and be the voice of the nation’s in-house counsel
  • Be the primary source of advice, knowledge and information that our members need to maximize their value to their organizations
  • Create opportunities for our members to share ideas and forge important domestic and global relationships
  • Work with other Branches and Committees of the Canadian Bar Association on matters of mutual concern
  • Liaise with in-house counsel organizations in other jurisdictions to promote CBA In-House Lawyers and CBA membership
